Buckland housing
Buckland grew as a Victorian industrial suburb serving the paper mill on the Dour and the port beyond. The core is tight Victorian workers' terraces - Barton Road, Buckland Avenue, Cherry Tree Avenue - punctuated by post-war infill and the Buckland estate up on the hill. Wiring runs true to the era: original 1900s twin-and-lead (long gone in most places), a 1960s or 70s rewire in rubber-and-lead, and a 1990s or 2000s partial upgrade to modern twin-and-earth.
What we see most
- Full rewires - the Victorian terraces are past their third life on wiring. Partial rewires clear the C2s.
- Consumer unit upgrades - many properties are still on split-load 1990s boards.
- Landlord EICRs - Buckland has a substantial rented stock.
- EV chargers - most terraces have no off-street parking; the Buckland estate does.
Local logistics
Some streets are permit-only - we bring a Dover DC visitor permit for jobs over half a day. UKPN service is TN-S in the Victorian core, TN-C-S on the estate.
