River sits about 2 miles west of Dover town along the A256 and the Dour valley. Housing is layered: Victorian riverside cottages along Lower Road and Common Lane, inter-war semis on Minnis Lane, and post-war semis and detached properties on the Kearsney side. The mix is friendlier for electrical work than the port core - more space to run cable, more off-street parking, most properties have driveways.
